According to the Hadith narrated by Sayyiduna Anas one day The Rasul of mankind, the peace of our heart and mind, the most generous and kind ordered his Companions to fast and then said: "None of you is to do iftar until I permit you." So the people fasted. In the evening, the Companions came individually to the Blessed Rasul and said, "Ya Rasul Allah fasted today, please give me permission to do iftar," Beloved Rasul would allow them to do iftar. One of the Companions came and said: "Ya Rasul-Allah! In my house, there are two girls who also fasted today, they feel shyness in coming here, please allow them to do iftar."
The Beloved Rasul of Allah, Knower of the Unseen, the Faultless turned his face away from him; he asked for the second time, but the blessed Rasul turned his head away from him again; when he asked for third time Makki Madani Mustafa said giving the news of Ghaib (unseen): "Those two girls have not fasted, how (can they say) they fasted? They have been eating the flesh of people all day long, go and tell them to vomit, if they have fasted."
The Companion went home and told them what Beloved Rasul said; when they vomited, blood and pieces of flesh came out of their mouths. The Companion returned to the merciful Rasul and told him about the girls' condition. He said: I swear by the One in whose omnipotence my life is, if it had remained in their stomachs, fire would eat them. (Because they both backbited others) (At'targheeb Wat'tarheeb, V3, P328, Hadith 15)
According to another Hadith: when Our Beloved Rasul turned his face away from the Companion came in front of Beloved Rasul and said; "Ya Rasul Allah they both have died" or "they are about to die." Beloved Rasul commanded him to bring the two girls to him. When they came he had a pot brought and ordered one of them to vomit in it; she vomited until the pot filled with blood and pieces of flesh. He then ordered the other one to vomit; she also vomited as much. The Beloved Rasul of Allah said: "They fasted from the things that Allah declared Halal (eating, drinking, etc.) but broke their fast with the things that Allah declared Haram. One (of them) sat down with the other and both of them began to eat the flesh of people (means they started backbiting)." (At'targheeb Wat'tarheeb, V2, P95, Hadith 8)

Darwinism is the Religion of the Antichrist-1
The hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), mention that, during the end times, a devilish power will emerge, one of whose most important attributes will be that he disrupts the peace and order of mankind. Many people, though, attach little importance to that power, known as the antichrist (Dajjal). From the hadiths, one would ordinarily think of the antichrist as an individual. However, as well as an individual, it can also be an ideology that tends towards violence and savagery, possesses devilish characteristics, and inflicts suffering on mankind.
The antichrist is the ideological infrastructure which causes that chaos and instability, that encourages people to immorality and evil, condemns whole communities to denial and rebellion, and is the ultimate root of terrorism and violence. The antichrist spreads immorality by portraying good as evil, and evil as good. One of the hadiths on the subject reads:
When Al-Dajjal appears, he will have fire and water along with him. What the people will consider as cold water, will be fire that will burn (things). So, if anyone of you comes across this, he should fall in the thing which will appear to him as fire, for in reality, it will be fresh cold water. (Sahih Al-Bukhari.)
As we've been foretold by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), this period will be one when people fail to live by the morality condoned by religion, when the existence of God is openly denied, when immorality, chaos, war and conflict are everywhere, and when terrorism, murder and violence become a part of normal, everyday life. Although there have been times all throughout history that have witnessed anarchy and chaos, the state of chaos and confusion that will be created by the Antichrist will be on an unprecedented scale.
The characteristics described by many of the hadiths discussing the Antichrist become much clearer when it is considered as ideology. All ideas and systems of thought, therefore, that encourage people to deny the existence of God, turn them away from religious morality and encourage strife and chaos between them actually represent the antichrist.
Today, materialism, and the various ideologies and movements that it gives birth to, are the primary components contributing to corruption in the world. All such movements, in effect, received their so-called scientific justification from the same source, and share the same fundamental foundation: Darwinism. Ever since Darwinism was first put forward, it has been the principle justification for materialist and anti-religious ideologies and movements, and even itself been elevated to the status of a religion by those who support such ideologies.
Darwinism is a teaching that attributes an independent power to nature, claims that life was not created, but emerged as a result of chance, and tries to distance mankind from belief in God. Blind chance is the central premise employed in Darwinism for maintaining that life came about out of inanimate matter and developed by means of evolutionary process. In this deceptive ideology, all living species began from one single cell that came about by chance, in other words from one common ancestor, and then evolved from one another over time by means of minute changes, again by pure coincidence. The theory lacks any scientific or rational basis, is nothing but a fantasy, and was widely accepted in Darwin's day on account of the primitive level of science and the sociological conditions at the time.
When those who believe in this superstition are asked how life might have first come about, they reply; "Living things came about by chance." In actual fact, however, chance is an uncontrolled, unreasoning and aimless force. God, however, creates everything according to a plan, in an ordered, intelligent and specific manner. When someone enters a room he knows that when he sees a chair, table, clock and a television, that they were made by someone and placed in that room according to a specific order. He would certainly never consider that they had come into being by themselves, or had placed themselves of their own doing. If anyone were to believe that such a thing were possible, his sanity would have to be questioned.
In the same way, someone who believes in such a senseless notion as Darwinism is in effect claiming that all the myriad species in the world, and everyone in the world had come about of their own accord as the result of chance. That means that "chance" is that person's god. Yet on careful inspection, that so-called god is one with no power of reason at all, and thus the most unintelligent god imaginable. That "god" is unaware of even its own existence as well of that of what it has brought into being.
In one hadith regarding the Antichrist, the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, "Ad-Dajjal is blind." Some Islamic scholars have interpreted that hadith to mean "The eye of the Antichrist's heart is blind." That interpretation helps us to better understand the facts we just mentioned. In the same way, the eye of the heart of someone who makes a god out of blind chance is also blind, as is the eye of his reason. Such people immediately object when it is suggested that; "God created the whole universe with superior intelligence, order and design." Yet when it is suggested that; "Everything is the result of blind chance," they find that completely logical. Instead of an intelligent and conscious creator, they prefer the totally unreasonable idea that blind chance, lacking all intelligence and creative ability, created everything out of anarchy and chaos. Therefore, Darwinism is the most illogical and superstitious religion in the history of the world. Another surprising fact is the way in which a number of highly educated people adopt it as their religion, even though it is clearly false. This shows to what extent the ideas of the Antichrist entrance people like a magic spell.
So, just what is it that leads certain people to believe such an irrational and illogical claim, and to even fiercely defend it?
This actually is an intensive propaganda campaign aimed at spreading the ideological system of the Antichrist in the time before the last days. In order to render this campaign as effective as possible, people are bombarded with indoctrination throughout their lives, and thus over time are coerced into adopting that twisted religion. This indoctrination, which people are exposed to even from childhood, consists of various phases, during each one of which people take a further step in the direction of the dark world of the Antichrist. The most effective way of protecting oneself from that bombardment is to listen to only the voice of one's conscience. Because, by the grace of God, our conscience is a guide that ensures our adherence to the true path.

5 Ways to Avoid Ramadan Weight Gain
The fast is a form of ibada that we do solely for the sake of Allah, seeking only his rewards and his pleasure. We must keep our intentions pure for this sake and this sake alone. Ramadan is a time in which we rejuvenate ourselves spiritually. We read articles on the physical benefits of fasting and we talk long winded about our "need" to fast for physical restoration. But the fast of Ramadan is not intended for this purpose. It is essential that we maintain its intent and purpose for indeed the Messenger of Allah (saw) said "he who fast with the intentions of pleasing Allah his reward is with his lord".
However on the practical side of fasting, every year we deviate from the sunnah and we suffer physically. It's often manifestation is weight gain, which then leads to tiredness which prevents us from staying awake for our late night ibada and thus the physical harm effects us spiritually and it comes full circle. Our intentions should not be to make the fast a month of dieting but rather make it a month in which we do not worsen our physical condition. The following are some practical tips on how to avoid the notorious Ramadan weight gain that many Muslim suffer from.
1. Eat protein in the morning Breakfast is still the most important meal of the day. So much so that it is a Sunna. When eating the morning meal, resist the erg to try to make up for the food you will be missing through out the day. We are not whales, thus we do not have an extra stomach to hold food for later. Do not eat a stack of pancakes thinking if you eat 5 instead of your normal 3 you will be satisfied longer. Calories from carbohydrates (i.e. pancakes, grits, waffles, toast etc) are burned much faster than protein. Even though hunger during some part of the day is inevitable with fasting 13 hours days, you can delay the hunger by having a protein rich morning meal. Having eggs with your pancakes or waffles, turkey bacon with your grits or a protein shake with your oatmeal will have much more longevity in your system than a pure carbohydrate meal.
2. Drink plenty of water when you break your fast It is very easy to become dehydrated and not drink enough water during Ramadan. We spend most of our alert hours not drinking anything. When the Messenger of Allah (saw) could not find dates to break fast with he would break fast with water. Water is an essential part of a healthy diet even when you are fasting. Dehydration is often misinterpreted as hunger. When we are dehydrated when we break fast, then we have the hunger of the fast on top of the mistaken hunger of being dehydrated. Break your fast then drink 2 large glasses of water before you eat your iftar meal. Eat slowly, consciously and with intent to eat for nourishment not to satisfy your hunger and cravings.
3. Eat consciously. One of the joys of a fasting person that is mentioned in the hadith when Allah says in hadith kudsi that a fasting person will have two joys, one when he breaks his fast and one when he meets his lord. There is very little that compares to having fasted all day then sitting in front of a nice spread with every dish you had been fantasizing about, everything from your favorite roasted lamb to cake and cookies. However there is very little that can compare to the amount of self control we must have when faced with such a feast of the eyes and the palette. We must remember that we are hungry because we are Muslims and as Muslims we much keep the Sunnah in mind and in actions. Remember the advice of the Prophet (saw) was a one-third rule. One-third food, one-third drink and one-third air. When we sit and eat to our full at iftar we violate the sunnah and we violate our bodies. The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: A Muslim should never loosen his waist wrapper due to over eating. Ramadan is a time in which we are suppose to master self control. This self control and discipline is not limited to the day. This training during the day extends to all parts of our lives and our behavior. We can show the benefit of this training then sitting down to an iftar spread and NOT eating everything in sight,.
4. Limit sweets Sweets are the indulgence of just about every culture during Ramadan. From the special Moroccan halwa, to African American cross cultural pies and cakes. Ramadan is the month that even the cooking handicapped practice their skills. We all have a tendency to justify the extra calories with the fact that we fasted most of the day. But the fact remains that it does not matter if you consume the calories through out the day or all at iftar. A calorie is still a calorie and too many still adds up to stored fat. Okay it is unrealistic to say do not eat any sweets. In fact it is okay to enjoy the sweetness of your Muslim sisters' cooking. But have a piece of cake AFTER you have eaten a balanced meal, drunk a large glass of water and prayed Magrib to give your digestive system time to settle and register the food you have eaten. If you still crave the sweets have a small serving then leave the rest for someone else to enjoy. Drinking the water will help fill your stomach and leave less room for over indulgence in sweets. And waiting after salat allows for the 15 to 20 minutes it takes for your stomach to communicate its fullness to your brain.
5. Avoid late night snacking When we are up late night doing ibada we tend to take detours through the kitchen to taste all the things we will not be able to have during the day. Leave the night for ibada and you will benefit much more. But if you happen to leave your Quran in the kitchen and must go in there to get it, then grab a small potion of protein rich food instead of the extra piece of cake. Eating carbohydrate and sugar rich foods late at night increases the chance of those carbohydrates being stored as fat. Eating a small portion of protein will balance your insulin and leave you feeling fuller longer.
May Allah Bless each reader to have a successful Ramadan. If you found benefit in this article then make a special dua for the author and if you found any mistakes make an extra dua for the author to be guided on the Siratal-Mustakeen.

The Mahdi and His Helpers
Our Prophet (saas) has told us that the Mahdi will serve for the benefit of Islam and Muslims and will carry out many important activities. According to the information provided in the hadiths, the Mahdi, who resembles our Prophet (saas) in terms of his moral values, will engage in sincere efforts for people's salvation in this world and in the Hereafter, and by means of him there will be comfort, peace and abundance in the world. It is also reported that he will have a small number of helpers in this honorable and superior duty. The information provided regarding the Mahdi's helpers in the hadiths and in the expressions of Islamic scholars are the signs that will enable him to be recognized.
The 1400s (Hijri) in which we are living is a time when the portents of the end times reported in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas) and in the works of Islamic scholars are becoming true one by one. We are informed that great and historic events will take place in this period. Allah has chosen blessed people to conduce to those developments. The superior moral values and honorable struggle of the Mahdi, is described detailed in the hadiths. Another thing we are informed about is the Mahdi's helpers and their various features. One of the most striking features is their numbers. According to the hadiths, the numbers of his helpers, who will be active on a global scale, will remain the same and won't change during their transmission. This is a miraculous state of affairs created by Allah in His wisdom. The numbers of the Mahdi's helpers are going to be the cause of his recognition.
When the Mahdi Appears His Helpers Will Be Few
As revealed by our Prophet (saas) in the hadiths, the number of the people who support him when he first appears will be very few as a requirement of the law of Allah revealed in the Qur'an. This has been same in all the communities of believers who lived throughout the history. The Qur'an also contains information about the fewness of sincere believers around the prophets.
For example, only few young people constituting the community in which the Prophet Musa (as) lived, believed in him:
"No one believed in Musa except for a few of his people out of fear that Pharaoh, and the elders, would persecute them. Pharaoh was high and mighty in the land. He was one of the profligate." (Surah Yunus: 83)
The same thing is valid for the helpers in the period when Prophet 'Isa (as) first appeared. It is understood that noone has believed in him except few Disciples The Disciples believed in Prophet (as) is revealed as follows in the Qur'an:
"You who believe! Be helpers of Allah as 'Isa son of Maryam said to the Disciples, 'Who will be my helpers to Allah?' The Disciples said, 'We will be the helpers of Allah.' One faction of the tribe of Israel believed and the other disbelieved. So We supported those who believed against their enemy and they became victorious." (Surah As-Saf: 14)
The Qur'an also tells us that the Companions of the Cave were very few in number:
"They will say, 'There were three of them, their dog being the fourth.' They will say, 'There were five of them, their dog being the sixth,' guessing at the Unseen. And they will say, 'There were seven of them, their dog being the eighth.' Say: 'My Lord knows best their number. Those who know about them are very few.' So do not enter into any argument concerning them, except in relation to what is clearly known. And do not seek the opinion of any of them regarding them." (Surat Al-Kahf: 22)
In another verse we are told that the number of people following Prophet Nuh (as) was also few:
"...But those who believed with him were only few." (Surah Hud: 40)
It is also reported in the Qur'an that very few people believed in Prophet Lut (as). When the People of Lut (as) were struck by a great disaster, apart from his non-believing wife, Allah rescued only the believer members of Prophet Lut's (as) family:
"...We are going to rescue him and his family-except for his wife. She will be one of those who stay behind. When Our Messengers came to Lut, he was distressed on their account, feeling incapable of protecting them. They said, 'Do not fear and do not grieve. We are going to rescue you and your family-except for your wife; she will be one of those who stay behind." (Surat Al-'Ankabut: 32-33)
The Number of the Mahdi's Helpers Will be Around 300
A specific number is cited in the hadiths for the number of people who will follow the Mahdi:
These 313 are devout believers by night and heroes by day. (Al-Uqayli, An-Najmu's-saqib fi Bayan Anna'l Mahdi min Awladi Ali b. Abu Talib Ale't-Tamam ve'l Qamal)
They consist of a group, including women, of 314 people. They will overcome all tyrants. Their hearts are like iron, and they are lions by day and devout believers by night. Neither those before nor after them can match them in self-sacrifice. (Al-Uqayli, An-Najmu's-saqib fi Bayan Anna'l Mahdi min Awladi Ali b. Abu Talib Ale't-Tamam ve'l Qamal)
Three hundred and fourteen people, among them women, will appear before the Mahdi. (Al-Uqayli, An-Najmu's-saqib fi Bayan Anna'l Mahdi min Awladi Ali b. Abu Talib Ale't-Tamam ve'l Qamal)
It is striking that the number of people believing in this valuable person who serves for the religion and calls people to believe in Allah, are few. There is no doubt that this is a miraculous state of affairs. The Mahdi, who will prevail the moral values of the Qur'an, will have only 313-314 helpers, when even the smallest religious communities today have thousands of members, is one of the main distinguishing features of the Mahdi and his community.
Bediüzzaman Said Nursi also recalled in his writings that although their numbers will be few every member of the community of the Mahdi would be spiritually very powerful:
It was related from Muhammed b. Hanefi that: Their numbers will be those of the people of Badr (313). In the same way that those before them cannot match them, neither can those who come after. Their number is as many as those who crossed the river with Talut. (Fera Idu Fevaidi'l Fiqr Fi'l Imam al-Mahdi al-Muntadhar)
The force and spiritual army this duty depends on is some students in full possession of titles of loyalty and solidarity. No matter how few they may be, they are as powerful and valuable as a literal army. (Emirdag Addendum, p. 259)
Angels Will Also Assist the Mahdi
Allah will support him with three thousand angels. (Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, Al-Qawl al-Mukhtasar fi Alamat al-Mahdi al- Muntadhar)
Jibril will be before them, and Mikail behind.
... .( Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, Al-Qawl al-Mukhtasar fi Alamat al-Mahdi al- Muntadhar)
It is reported in the hadith that Jibril and Mikail will be among the Mahdi's helpers. According to this information, by Allah's will, angels are also going to help the Mahdi.
The angels' help to true believers is reported in various verses of the Qur'an. Our Lord also supported our Prophet (saas) and his companions with angels. Some verses on the subject are as follows:
"And when your Lord revealed to the angels, 'I am with you so make those who believe firm..." (Surat Al-Anfal: 12)
"And when you said to the believers, 'Is it not enough for you that your Lord reinforced you with three thousand angels, sent down?'" (Surah Al 'Imran: 124)
Every Believer Living in the End Times Is Very Valuable
Another noteworthy subject in the hadiths of our Prophet (saas) is that every believer in the end times will be very valuable. In the end times, when atheism is widespread all over the world and when moral degeneration is proceeding at a great pace, believers, and especially the Mahdi, will encounter great difficulties and social pressure. This is reported in one of the hadiths as follows:
Such a time will come that he who is patient before the religion will be like one holding a glowing ember. (Fera Idu Fevaidi'l Fiqr Fi'l Imam al-Mahdi al-Muntadhar)
To serve with this worthy person who is patient in the face of such pressure, people need to compete with one another to be his helpmates in great excitement and enthusiasm. However, during the end times, truth and falsehood will change place in practice. The people who have left the moral values of the Qur'an and the moral degeneration's enormous dimension may prevent people from following such an honorable believer and joining his community.

In his commentary, Ibn Marduya relates a hadith from Ibn Abbas: He stated that:
The Companions of the Cave will be the Mahdi's helpmates." (Al-Muttaqi al-Hindi, Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi Akhir al-Zaman)
In his commentary on the Qur'an, Imam Abu Ishaq Salam states that:
When the Mahdi appears he will go to the Companions of the Cave and greet them, and Allah will resurrect them and they will take their places at the Mahdi's side. Afterwards, they will return to the place where they lie and not rise again until the day of Resurrection. (Al-Muttaqi al-Hindi, Al-Burhan fi Alamat al-Mahdi Akhir al-Zaman)
Imam Suyuti states:
The slumber of the Ashab al-Kahf is a grant them by Allah. Because they will be the Mahdi's helpers and will have the honor of being included in the community of Muhammed (saas). (Hadiths from the commentary by Jalaladdin Suyuti, Portents of the Mahdi of the End Times, p. 59)
The Mahdi's Helpers in Various Islamic Sources
As revealed by our Prophet (saas) 1400 years ago, the Mahdi, one of the chosen servants of Allah, by the will of Allah, will prevail the moral values of the Qur'an to all over the world. He will fulfill that duty as written in his destiny, even if he has to do it alone. It is a mercy and blessing from Almighty Allah to be supported by helpers during the period of his transmission. Our Lord's support for His emissaries is revealed in the Qur'an as follows:
"If you do not help him, Allah did help him..." (Surah At-Tawba: 40)
The Ashab al-Kahf Will Join the Mahdi's Helpers
According to the blessed Huzayfa:
The Prophet (saas) stated: "My community will not be raised before the Mahdi appears. Allah will support him with three thousand angels... The Ashab al-Kahf will be with him and be his helpers."
They Will Pray by Night and Work by Day
Abu Nuaym related from Abu Jaffar:
"Upon this call, 313 people, as many as the People of Badr, who were not previously allied together will immediately appear, and worship by night and act as lions by day (Fera Idu Fevaidi'l Fiqr Fi'l Imam al-Mahdi al-Muntadhar)
CONCLUSION
The Mahdi will be a holy individual, whose moral values, physical features, activities, services and effect on the world were described by our Prophet (saas) 1400 years ago, and which are written in his own destiny. Those features cannot be imitated, nor acquired by effort, so, by the will of Allah, the Mahdi's work cannot be prevented or rejected by any kind of pretext. By Allah's will The Mahdi will serve, together with Prophet 'Isa who will return back to Earth for the second time in the end times to prevail the moral values of the Qur'an to all over the world as reported by our Prophet (saas). This is a destiny determined by Allah. The domination of the moral values of Islam is described in the Qur'an as follows:
It is He Who sent His Messenger with guidance and the Religion of Truth to exalt it over every other religion, though the idolaters hate it. (Surat As-Saff: 9)
